The difference between absolute ethanol and alcohol
Anhydrous ethanol and edible alcohol, the chemical composition is ethanol, the source is different, the purity is different
Anhydrous ethanol is industrially prepared, such as fermented from wood waste products
Edible alcohol is prepared from food, such as sorghum, glutinous rice, etc.
Due to its unclean source, the preparation process is relatively simple, and the cost is relatively low. Therefore, the finished product obtained may contain toxic components. Common methanol (also known as wood essence, which is easily obtained from wood fermentation), can cause blindness.
Because the source of edible alcohol is grain, it can be eaten, the preparation process is relatively complicated, the cost is high, and the finished product obtained is highly edible
Anhydrous ethanol is prepared by distillation and other refining methods, and the alcohol content is more than 99% (and 1% water\methanol, etc.).The usually said alcohol is more than 90% ethanol, and the medical disinfection alcohol is 70% ethanol.
Edible alcohol is generally not refined after fermentation, and the cost is too high, so 50 degrees is already very high, and other ingredients are food products, which have a certain health effect.
Winemaking uses grain to obtain edible alcohol. In order to reduce costs, unscrupulous vendors use industrial alcohol instead of edible alcohol and add water. Some are more black-hearted and use industrially unqualified low-priced ethanol instead, which contains more methanol to reduce costs.
Cost calculation, the price of general edible alcohol is at least 10 times that of grain, that is, 1 kilogram of grain can get 0.1 kilogram of edible alcohol, which does not increase the production cost, and the price of different grains is also very different.
The price of anhydrous ethanol is about 8 yuan per kilogram
The price of ethanol with more impurities (more methanol) is 4-5 yuan per kilogram
